If it wasn’t for the watch Ben had had made specially for Kadyn, he would never have noticed the time that had passed, but the moons moved and the count was one he recognised. 12 moons in a human year. Which meant, today was the day he’d been with his client or master or Alpha, for 2 years. Time had flown.
He didn’t have money, he didn’t really know how to go about gift shopping, so Kadyn did what he usually did, he decided to make one, even traveling deeper in to the woods than he usually went to find the right type of tree. A white birch.
Then he sat for hours while Ben was at work, carving with claws and even teeth, till he had what resembled a wolf, in the whitest wood he could find, and while it wasn’t the best sculpture in the world, Kadyn hoped it was one that would hopefully make Ben realise it was meant to be him, in his wolf form.
He was walking back home, gnawing on the end of the tail to make it look a little less round when he saw Ben, quickly, hiding the thing behind his back. “You’re home early.”
