i am an untethered astronaut
among a star spattered vastness,
with nothing to grasp onto,
to pull me back to gravity.
the only difference is astronauts are
meant to be brave,
and i am terrified
with a fear as deep and vague as the dark around me.
at least those dying planets have a purpose.
at least when they purge their light
inside out in a sad explosion,
they become magnetic to upraised eyes.
they are bought and named as gifts between lovers.
but a lost astronaut?
they have no such gift to give .
astronauts without hooks
are space explorers with noone
to tell their stories to.
i just float and my voice echoes against infinite walls.
