Friday, October 31: 220 Volt, "Halloween"
220 Volt continued refining their approach on Mind Over Muscle, mostly maintaining the mix of hooky hard rock, early ‘80s heavy metal and Jocke Lundholm’s frosty yet slightly awkward vocalizing, but while there was a certain Balls to the Wall-era Accept-like directness to many of the tracks “Halloween” was just a kickass barnburner that rampaged with efficiency even though it wasn’t at all certain anyone in the band actually knew anything about October 31. It was more than a little surprising hearing 220 Volt get silly like this, at least seemingly intentionally, but it was also just straight up fun and both a refreshing change of pace from a band that could come across overly serious as well as one last banger before they went full AOR in an attempt at an international breakthrough.
