A mid-size sedan is a commonly looked as the family car. It is filled with attractive and affordable options like the Optima. It has an adorable manly exterior that supplements several power-train. The handsome surface is powered by the workday base engine, two turbocharged versions and two hybrid options.   Active safety infotainment is available in every model. Kia has perfected the art of a mid-size sedan. Optima is the mainstream sedan you would want to opt.

What's New In 2018 Optima?

Kia sends the Optima 2018 with minor updates and many active-safety features which were optional previously are now standard features. The 7.0 touch screen has replaced the 5.0-inch touch screen with apple car play and Android Auto. The rest of the lineup has a reshuffled standard features. The SXL model has been discontinued, offering a limited package on SX trims. The 2018 Kia Optima adds a new S model which fits between LX and Lx 1.6T. The new version exhibits a sporty exterior with a panoramic sunroof. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid has a minor color and trims changes.

Trim Options to Choose From-

The Optima comes in five different trims that range from base LX ($23,495) to top-tier SX ($31,495). In between we have a choice the LX 1.6T, it offers a 178-hp turbocharged, 1.6-liter inline-four matched. It offers a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The new Optima is a mix of performance, efficiency and affordability.

This trim will cost you $25,295 including following features-

 •    7.0- inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

•    A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob

•    Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

•   Power-adjustable front seats

While the LX trim is of good value, there are virtually no options to enhance its active safety tech or interior features. There are more amenities available on the EX model. The fully optimized EX model will cost you$31,895.

The new Optima also offers a hybrid gas and powertrains for 2018.  Both are estimated above 40 mpg. Compared to other hybrids particularly- Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius performs better. While Chevrolet Volt nearly doubles the Optima plug-in's electric range.

Only Electric Range-

The EPA estimates 29 miles of electric-only driving range. A combined range with a fully charged battery will be above 75 mph. It is impossible to reach highway speed without starting the gasoline engine. A feather-light pressure on the accelerator will launch optima into hybrid mode. Even though you have pressed the EV mode via the button on the center console, the acceleration will launch the hybrid mode. The only drawback is 2018 Kia Optima EV may not operate during the winter season.

A highway testing on Michigan's I-94 Optima delivered a 41 mpg, and a top turbo trim 2.0-liter engine earned a 35v mpg which is an impressive performance, similar to the Honda Accord.

A test carried on the optima, it carried 21 carry-on's total and seven trunks, making it the roomiest vehicle for the real world. The hybrid model is capable of carrying 17 carry-on's which plenty for most purposes.
