A lot of people keep saying they can’t recognize Within Temptation anymore because their sound has changed so much, saying they want the sound of Mother Earth and The Silent Force back. It has been over a DECADE since those two albums. And hasn’t WT already proven they can change up their sound? They certainly did on The Unforgiving. If all they did was make Mother Earth every time, people would be saying it was stale, that all their music sounded the same. Bands change and evolve. The members change and evolve. Maybe they don’t want to do the same thing over and over again, and it was obvious they were going through a burnout after Hydra. You don’t have to like everything they put out, but recognize that bands do change their sound over time, and sometimes they need to.
