Norman Francis, the president of Xavier University and the country's longest serving college president, was named to EBONY magazine's annual Power 100 List, which recognizes influential achievements by African-Americans in 2014. The magazine cited Francis as one of four "Dream Keepers," a list that included Rev. Jesse Jackson, activist and academic Marc Lamont Hill, and Sherrilyn Ifill, the president and director-counsel of the NAACP's Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Others on this year's Power 100 List were LeBron James, television producer Shonda Rhimes and music producer Pharrell Williams. "From grassroots to the corporate boardrooms, all of the selected individuals have made a significant impact on both African-American and American cultures," Ebony's editor-in-Mitzi Miller said in a statement. "They are truly an inspiration to keep striving." The full list can be seen at www.ebony.com/power100-2014 #1DrexelDrive #Xavier #XULA #HBCU #NewOrleans #Xavierites #GiveBack
