born adam douglas. a boy in and out of foster homes but rarely due to his own transgressions. no, he’d never been the mastermind, but instead an aching heart. always running with the wrong crowds. constantly looking lost in the back of patrol cars. an early growth spurt often left him towering over his peers, looking far more intimidating than the boy actually was. had the makings of a gentle giant but something always got in the way — someone always wanted you to be something you weren’t.
school was never easy, never quite able to keep up with the other students. the guitar was an escape, something that came naturally and was initally best done alone, chords plucked curiously behind a closed door. having grown a bit, he was no longer indulging in petty crimes. he worked himself into something better, something promising. EVERCLEAR. he was charmed and for once the future looked promising.
bad habits die hard. the rise to fame was a struggle. he’d never handled pressure well, he had a record to prove that. common sense at times felt like a burden. he’d witnessed the ugly parts of the business. how the narcotics and booze would eat away at them bit by bit — and still, guiltly, he indulged. to kill the nerves. to fit in. for the hell of it. he hid it well, better than others. maybe that brought on that HOLIER THAN THOU attitude. it comes from a good place – worry. worried one day you’ll find someone overdosed, gone, dead. it’s just never conveyed well. a hypocrite, most don’t take kindly to it.

♡ loretta rose dickens was born the youngest of six children in the smokey mountains of east tennessee. to say she was the apple of her parents’ eyes would have been an understatement. despite the fact that her father’s career as a coal miner didn’t provide them with the highest income, they made the best of the life they had, and her parents always did whatever they could to give the children the whole world.
♡ lo first discovered her love for music in church. from the moment she was able, she sang along to every song from her seat in the worn down pews. until she was old enough to join the choir, then everyone was singing along with her. she was a natural, and was doted on by all the other members for her talents.
♡ while her passion for music never waned, it never occurred to lo that it could be a career. but soon enough her parents and their friends were encouraging her to perform more publicly than just the church. by the age of eleven, lo was featured on a number of local tv programs and radio shows, and by twelve she and her mother were signing contracts to record her first few singles. suddenly, she was being played on country music radio stations across the country. it was all uphill from there; suddenly she was a teenager and going a few hours away to nashville once a week to record music while she finished school. after graduating, she moved to nashville full time, and lived there for a couple of years before bigger opportunities had her packing up and taking the cross-country trip to los angeles.
♡ since her move to la, lo has been experimenting with her music a bit outside of the country bubble. these days, most of her tunes have more pop-sounding melodies, but she never forgets to add her own southern twist. her aesthetic and music mixes elements of classic country with the gaudy, over-the-top elements that characterize the era. hello, my loves! — i’m jess, i’m 22 and over in rainy england. i’m recently done with university which gives me a lot of downtime until i find a job so hopefully i can dedicate a lot of that downtime to this fuckin’ rp because it’s gonna be lit i just know it. i’m a huge stone roses fan and 80s/90s-music-obsessed in general so getting to play this character is super exciting for me, so without further ado, meet my trash son: mr isaac carberry. BACKGROUND
born 14th april 1960 in manchester, england to a normal working-class family, isaac was the first born child of james & rose carberry, with a younger sister coming along a few years later. the little family of four lived fairly happily, but struggled financially just as many people did in northern england at the time.
when isaac was five, his father lost his job as a result of coalmine closures, and times were tough. however, the family kept their spirits high by keeping close-knit, as well as listening to a whole lotta’ music. music was key in the carberry household. it was all around you at all times.
when times would get particularly bleak, his dad would pick up an guitar and play to the kids. he wasn’t very good but watching someone play an instrument and have fun with it sparked something in the eyes of isaac carberry.
tw violence, corporal punishment — during his teenage years, he was a problem child. he was the kid that always got pulled out of class by the headmaster to receive the cane in his office. he could never sit still, was always cracking jokes when he should’ve been doing his schoolwork, etc. it wasn’t talked about at the time, so it went unnoticed, but what isaac was probably dealing with was undiagnosed ADHD. despite this, though, he was a clever child. he had a way with words and looked forward to english class every week, where he would take great pleasure in writing exercises, especially poetry.
writing was a dreamy, escapist haven for isaac, and this extended to his life outside of school, too. the works he was producing were mostly tongue-in-cheek, light-hearted stories and poems with a recurring “stop taking life so seriously” theme. when he turned 16, however, these poems began to turn into songs. this started to take up a lot of his time especially when he finished secondary school at 16 and went onto sixth form college, where he took music alongside english.
isaac desperately wanted to learn to play guitar, so that he could form some structural melodies to these songs, but struggled with honing the skill of learning an instrument. luckily, when he was 18, he made three friends who could do just that. the four kids would bounce ideas off of each other and hold jam sessions in the tiny little basement of isaac’s family home, but things never went much further than that (at least not yet, anyway.)
isaac decided against going to university, mostly since his family lacked the funds, and instead picked up a full-time job in a grocery store to help out his household’s shared income.
in 1979, margaret thatcher came into power as the UK’s prime minister, and times got even bleaker. money was even tighter and the working-class situation became an even harder one to be in. the carberry family started sending isaac out on the street after work to sing some of his songs for tips.
in 1983, aged 23, isaac was in a dark place. no opportunity, no degree, no wealth in the family to fall back on. he ‘rallied up the troops’ so to speak and practically begged his friends to start a band with him. he had plenty of material, after all.
to his relief, they said yes, and were determined to make it work. they were hungry for attention and throwing themselves at any gig opportunities they could get, to get them a bit of money into their pockets. that was it, GENERATION was truly alive and kicking.
at a show supporting another band, generation were noticed by a fellow musician, who took a shine to the band and booked them to support his upcoming uk tour. thus, the band were rising to prominence. fast forward a year and before isaac even had the chance to process it, generation were shaping up to be the biggest band in the uk. isaac could finally give his family everything they needed to better their situation and was having the most amazing time ever doing what he loved.
after independently releasing their own singles, the band got themselves a record deal in early 1985 and released their first full record, a self-titled album. their management wanted to introduce them to US audiences, and thus — that’s how we find ourselves here.

with a name like lake it’s pretty much no surprise that she was born to a pair of hippies in the early 60s. lake and her parents travelled a lot. more often than not it was because of financial issues ( they weren’t exactly criminals, as much as lake would play pretend, but they’d move from place to place and stay with family and friends everywhere ) that went unpaid. despite this, lake wouldn’t say her childhood was all that unhappy. as an only child, her parents adored her. sure, they couldn’t always give her what she wanted at christmas, nor could they ever allow her the luxuries of a normal kid. she was constantly in different schools, making new friends and having to leave them behind again. it repeated itself over and over. lake never managed to keep in contact with them.
but she did love the travelling. she grew up with her parents larger than life imaginations and she soon had one of her own. she lives up to the expectations of what someone would assume a hippie child would be like. she adores exploring, loves nature, has an unusual outlook on things. but she’s very much her own person.
lake can sing, play bass and fairs well on piano. a lot of her adolescent years were made up of staying behind in school to play, writing songs and getting lost in her own little world. she was good at it. excellent, in fact.
she was 19 when she was scouted by a local agency after performing in a local dive bar. it was perfect timing. her parents had began to struggle with money yet again and were threatened with another move. lake took it upon herself to sign a contract that would ensure that wouldn’t happen any time soon.
everything seemed perfect for a while. although she wasn’t making much, her career was taking off, she was doing what she loved, her parents were a little more secure. it was all going too well.
until lake developed a relationship with her manager. she trusted him, they’d been friends for a while, he managed every aspect of her life ( something he’d never let her forget ) and they were happy. it wasn’t until lake found out he’d been robbing her of money and was the reason behind her minimal payments did she see his true colours. she couldn’t believe she’d been so blind. the money that was supposed to be going to her parents had left them more in the dark than ever before.
it’s safe to say that lake didn’t take it too well. she broke things off with her manager, heartbroken but determined to move past it. the relationship between them was kept private and no one but lake and her parents are aware of it ever happening. as far as everyone else was concerned, lake had simply torn up her contract and walked away from the agency altogether. and in her own way, she did.
but she came back stronger than ever after signing with black bird records. they utilised more of her potential than the other agency could ever dream of. she finally had the security she was so sure she had before. and the rest remains history. her career skyrocketed. her life was finally turned around.
but that’s not to say she’s not gullible. as a matter of fact, she’s just as gullible as she ever was before. at least when it comes to her personal relationships. she likes as much control and power over her career as she can. other than that she can be easily manipulated and fooled by anyone with the intention of it. lake tries to stay away from committed relationships, an odd fling or two is something she prefers, but that’s not to say she hasn’t been fooled into hoping for something more only to be let down again.

hey all, it’s fran here again !! and finally making a much needed intro for this chaotic mess. i’ll try not to ramble too much this time !
surprisingly, elias was hesitant about forming a band at first. sure, he wasn’t the best at school. he hardly paid attention. his grades were average at best ( alright, maybe a little below average-- but what can you do ? ). he spent a lot of his time working towards a future. it just wasn’t one he particularly cared for. the same way his mother had never particularly cared for his taste in music.
dropping out of school took some convincing from the boys and after weighing his options, elias decided to say fuck it and began living for himself. only himself-- well, him and the boys. he said goodbye to his old life and hello to new, endless possibilities.
the thing about elias stokes was that he’s always been a little larger than life. it just never showed until after he was finally granted his own freedom.
he didn’t have much of that growing up. his mother worked herself to the bone with hardly anything to show for it but a couple of empty bottles of cheap whiskey left on the coffee table the next morning and a run down apartment they could barely afford each month. they’d been homeless a few times, but somehow that only made habits worse when they got back on their feet again. their relationship was strained to say the least. there were good days, great days even, and there were bad ones. she wasn’t too nice when they were out of liquor.
