Regular followers of this Instagram account will know that my husband is on a quest to drink older wines from vintages that correspond to important birth years. He has been drinking his birth year (1965) on special holidays. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of his mothers passing, he bought an expensive bottle of her birth year of wine from her favorite Rioja winery, Marques de Riscal. This 1934 blend was definitely oxidized and the first taste was not promising. But John is patient (I mean stubborn) and waited and the fruit made its way forward and it ended up being a nice bottle. Much better than the 1965 we had on New Yearโs Eve.
