Did you get your tickets yet for @154artfair NY? 🎨🔥 As part of the Special Projects at the fourth edition of 1-54 New York, South African artist Ralph Ziman @afrika_47 presents the Casspir Project with SPOEK 1, a re-imagined military vehicle. Invented in the 1970s, the Casspir became a symbol of oppression and violence in South Africa and it was used extensively by the Apartheid-era South African Police against civilians. Ziman and his team, comprising almost 100 local artists and craftsman, have transformed this military tank by covering it with beads and following traditional techniques and colour palette. The 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair NY is happening now thru Sunday, May 6th. Friday from 12-8pm is free for all students with a valid student ID.
