this question popped up in a forum i visited. there was a heated discussion regarding Juvia's vast collection of Gray Items in her room on Fairy Tail Special Chapter (413 Days). i had said in my previous post that i will not tackle about this special chapter since many tumblr users had said everything about it especially Gray looking for the scarf Juvia knitted for him and wearing it with a smile on his face. i only decided to say something about Juvia's GALE hallucinations because i really wanted to see Gajeel and Levi doing that. teehee. but i need to get this off my brainscule or i'll have a hard time sleeping tonight.
according to the forumer, Juvia needs help as having those collections is unhealthy. that's what i got in his/her post. the forumer, it seems, focused more on the first pages of the special chapter where Juvia's fangirling antics were shown. i admit her actions in the shower scene made me cringe. but i found her collections cute. also upon reading the rest of the chapter, i've forgotten the first pages. for me, there's no need to dwell on those first pages. you can forget them if you want or keep reading them, but please, focus more on the entire story, not just on some bits.
but if the forumer wants his/her question/post be answered, well, here's my take on it. there's nothing wrong in having those vast collections. there's nothing wrong in fangirling/fanboying as long as they don't cross the line or make the life of the person/s they admire/obsessed with a living hell such as stalking them up to their houses and even getting inside, threaten their love ones, abducting them, bringing them to an unknown place, tie them up so they will not be able to escape or in worst case scenario, just like what another forumer said there, cut them into pieces just so the obsessed person can keep them. now that's not just unhealthy but also sick.
Juvia might have stalked Gray and company in the past but she never made their lives a living hell. she watched them from afar. and when she finally decided to show up to them, she ended up helping them during the Tower of Heaven Arc.
Juvia is Fairy Tail's embodiment of a fangirl/fanboy. this writer can relate to Juvia as i also have a collections of stuff my favorite artists such cassette tapes, CDs, magazine with articles about them, posters. and i still have that desire to have clothes with their face printed on it. i even went to not so legal means just to have their albums or songs that i don't have yet. i joined fora, twitter, facebook, instagram just to follow them. i even got into some online fights to defend my fave artists against their bashers. i also downloaded two of my favorite toku shows in the 80's so i can watch them over and over again. though right now, i'm inactive in the fora i've joined, i quit twitter, deleted my FB account and made a new one less complex and more personal that the deleted one. i still follow the page of my favorite boyband but that's the only fangirl stuff i have in my account and i'm not even commenting. i already explained my side regarding this deleting of accounts in one of my previous posts. though i admit i still read the twitter posts of one of my fave artists just to know what he is doing in his life and lovelife. well, you can say that's stalking. haha. but i only read his entries. nothing more. i can't throw away my fangirling just like that since admiring someone or some people can put a smile on my face or make me ready to face the day head on. yes, fangirling/fanboying can boost a person's confidence. just like how it is to Juvia.
now, if having collections like that of Juvia can be called unhealthy, then all psychiatric wards all over the world will be full of fangirls/fanboys including this writer who also have collections of the things from the people they admire/idolize with since what we are doing is conceived to be unhealthy by other people.
