In China, Texas, still an hour from the Louisiana border, a friend showed me an aging fire truck from Calcasieu Parish that was rusting away on a side street. I wondered how it got there - whose idea was it to bring this hook-and-ladder from another state and then just neglect it? Regardless, it made for great photos, and as we were snapping away, a woman who lived next door came over and told us we weren't the first ones to discover the old truck.
