"It's Christmas, woohoo" Carl ran into Rick and Michonne's room and jumped on their bed. She sat up in the bed and hugged him.

"Merry Christmas Carl" She kissed him on the cheek.

"Merry Christmas" Rick said scuffling his hair.

Carl looked over to the side of the room and saw her suitcase by the closet door, packed up.  He stopped himself from crying because he still had hope that his Christmas wish would come true. Rick and Michonne shared a quick kiss then followed Carl into the living room. His eyes bucked in fascination with all the presents under the tree. Before he could run towards his new hybrid bike he stopped him.

"Wait Carl, Michonne's gonna play Santa this year" He smiled at her.

"I'd love that" She kissed Rick on the cheek. The dog ran past the three of them and started to gnaw on his Christmas bone Rick got him.

Michonne sat near Carl by the tree and handed a few presents. As he happily tore through the wrappings she reach under the tree and pulled out a Sheriffs hat.

"This ones from Rick" She place the hat onto of his head.

"Aww dad but this is your hat" He smiled at Rick, tilting his hat forward.

I know how much you love it so it's all yours"

Carl pulled out a small present from the right side of the tree and held it out to Michonne.

"This for you. I know it's not much but every time I went by this store it reminded me of you"

Touched by his gesture she happily unwrapped the present, revealing a light brown headband with three tone colors and an intricate pattern.

"This is very beautiful. Thank you sweetie" She hugged Carl then tied the headband around her head rearranging her dreads. As he continued to ravage through his gifts Michonne grabbed a present from inside the tree and approached Rick.

"I brought this for you" He stood up.

"You didn't have to buy anything for me baby" He chuckled.

He unwrapped the gift, revealing a box that said Rolex on it. Inside was a big shiny silver watch.

"I know your last got broken on duty so..." After helping him adjust his new watch he pulled her close and kissed her on the lips.

"I love it, thank you" He smiled. When she went back to the tree he disappeared from the room to go get something from the bedroom.

Carl noticed a present from Rick to Michonne and handed it to her, it was a DVD that had play me written on the disk. He stopped what he was doing and met Michonne by the couch. Some subtle background music started playing and a picture of Rick and Michonne, sharing fried dough by the ferris wheel came up on the screen.

"That was our first date" She chuckled, shocked he still had that picture.

After a few more pictures a montage of their webcam conversations between the three of them came up along with a voice message from Rick.

"Michonne, these last few years gave me a lot to think about. When you left for New York, you took all of me with you. No words could describe how empty I felt without you." A picture of Carl and Michonne asleep on the couch came up on the screen.

"I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for my son. I know the bond between the two of you will continue to grow in the years to come" Carl tried to choke back tears, reminiscing about all the fun times he's had with her.

"All of these moments we share between each other mean too much to me to see them go away...I don't want you to go back to New York. You belong with our family. We can continue to create more wonderful memories together if you grant me this one holiday wish"

Michonne saw Rick standing by the tree, holding a box in his hand. Carl's mouth dropped in shock. She walked over to him and he got down on one knee, reveling the beautiful two stacked diamond ring.

When Michonne woke up she noticed Rick wasn't in bed. She peaked into Carl's room and didn't see him neither. Going down the stair the dog Baxter was standing by the back door, wiggling his tail. Her instinct told her to put her clothes on and go outside. Once the dog ran outside she investigated the snow, seeing no footprints or trails. Suddenly she felt a snowball hit her butt.

"Gotcha baby" Rick said, catching a snowball in his hand.

"You are so in for it" She smiled. As she gathered the snow another ball hit her on the side of her arm.

"Booya" Carl cheered.

"That's it" Michonne quickly threw a snowball at Rick and ran for cover. Gathering her snowballs she rose up and threw one towards Carl, hitting him on the chest. Rick threw one at Michonne, missing her arm. Carl ducked back down as she threw a small cluster of snowballs.

"Dad you didn't tell me Michonne was good at this"

"I'm just finding this out myself" He felt the remnants of a snowball hit his head.

Rising up Carl threw two balls at Michonne. As she ran to another cover spot both Rick and Carl continued to throw snowballs at her while he dog continued to roll around in the snow.

"I'm out of ammo" Rick said to Carl.

"I'm going in. Ahhhhh" Carl tried running behind the house to attack Michonne from behind the dog quickly jumped on him.

"Aww Baxter" Carl said, pretending to be dead. Each one of made one more snowball and stood across each other, keeping their distance.

"There could only be one" Michonne said, keeping her fingers steady.

"Bring it on sweetheart" Rick said.

Neither of them took their eyes off one another. Both of their fingers remained steady. In a split he ducked down and threw a snowball her way. Leaning backwards the snow ball missed her. She quickly scooped her ball up and threw it at him, hitting him on the side of the face. After Rick did his dramatic fall on the ground she stood above him, folding her arms.

"Your defeated sheriff" She looked down at him. Suddenly Rick tried to get her to fall down on the ground by tickling her legs.

"Charge" Carl shouted, running towards her.

After falling on the ground Rick laid beside her and Carl jumped in between the middle of them. The dog walked over to Michonne and licked her nose.

"Looks like you've been defeated" Both of them laughed at her.

I must truly love this man or maybe I’m just sprung.  Heck maybe it’s both.  Michonne laughs to herself as she trudges slowly through the deep snow, making her way to the constables’ office where Rick is on duty. The temperature dropped rapidly as the snow began to fall and it has been relentless ever since.  She is bringing some warmth giving coffee to him in hopes of helping him to stave off the cold and also for the very selfish reason of spending more time with him.  

There is celebration in the atmosphere with it being the week of Christmas and with the newness of their relationship.  She is surprised when the door is pulled open before she actually makes it there.  “I saw you from the window,” Rick explains with a smile.  She walks inside quickly, explaining her reason for being there as she immediately pours the steaming liquid into two mugs, thankful it is still hot.

They sit side by side at his desk, stealing glances at each other and both giddy to be in the other’s company.  Rick pulls one of his desk drawers open and retrieves two peppermint candy canes.  He smiles as Michonne’s eyes light up and her face softens with joy.

“I saw these in the pantry and I thought about you.  Just a little Christmas happy,” he tells her.

Michonne walks into the house, closing her eyes as the warmth cloaks her immediately.  She secures the door and questions the dimly lit foyer and living room area.  She wonders where everyone is as the house is usually teeming with activity.  She moves further into the living room and gasps as she sees Rick lounging on the floor's oversized area rug in front of the blazing, crackling logs in the fireplace. 

He is seemingly naked save for the purple afghan throw draped across his hips.  A silver tray with fruit and two glasses of wine is resting next to him as he looks up at her with a lazy smile. 

She returns his smile and asks, “What’s going on?”

“We have the house all to ourselves.  Maggie and Beth want Carl and Judith’s help with their gingerbread house or something, so I thought we could have a little Christmas celebration of our own.”

“Well, that’s fine.  Just let me….”  She trails off as Rick stands and walks over to her, leaving the throw behind.  Her eyes rake him from head to toe and he is decidedly ready to get their celebration started at that exact moment.  She is completely mesmerized and turned on to the fullest as he steps to her and kisses her soundly.

Michonne was in the living room watching the Charlie Brown christmas special with Carl and the dog. She noticed Rick coming down the stairs with a jacket on.

"Hey where you going?" She asked.

"Going out to pick up a few things from the store, I'll be back" He leaned down and kissed Michonne and patted Carl on the head.

As Rick drove down the slick road he thought about him and Michonne's relationship. Her being gone for those few years and her spending the holidays with the family made him realize he couldn't let her go back to New York. The only thing he wanted was to make Michonne his wife. Walking into the fancy jewelry store he approached the counter already looking at the beautiful selection of rings.

"Hello sir, how may I help you this evening?" The clerk asked.

"I'm here to purchase an engagement ring, but I can’t decide between these five" He pointed at the top row of rings. The clerk pulled out the boxes and laid them across the counter. Each ring had its own distinctive look to it, wether it be the color of the diamonds or the design. He took a second to envision himself putting the ring on her finger, then he made his decision.

"This one right here" He pointed to the two stacked ring in the middle.

"Yes very good sir. These are top of the line fourteen karat diamonds on both rings. These come with a custom case. Each ring comes with an optional engraving for an extra hundred, are you interested?" Rick kept looking at the three round shaped diamonds on the second ring, thinking about putting it on Michonne's finger on their wedding day.

"Yes I am" He grabbed a sheet of paper and wrote a message to her for the first ring, and both their names for the second ring. The clerk took the ring in the back to have his requests carefully engraved inside the rings.

"When you gonna propose to her man?" One of the workers asked, watching him fan out his money on the counter.

"Christmas day"

"She's sure is one lucky lady. I wish you two the best of luck"

"Thanks" He smiled.
