Chewing bubblegum can be a sign that you’re suffering from anxiety! It’s not a direct symptom of anxiety, but some people with anxiety fidget a lot or they feel like they have to be constantly moving, which may involve chewing gum. It could even be used as a distraction when feeling anxious so it can take your mind off of whatever it is that’s causing the anxiety. There are all sorts of possible explanations for how it could be related to anxiety!

There are actually a lot of symptoms of anxiety because it can present itself in so many different ways. Psychologically, you could have intrusive thoughts regarding what’s making you anxious, having a sense of dread or feeling like something is wrong but not knowing what it is, feeling constantly on edge, etc. It can make you fear being alone, cause a feeling of restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and so on. Finally, it can also cause physical symptoms that include sweating, heart palpitations, dizziness, headaches, insomnia, and more. If you identify with any of these symptoms, consider reaching out for professional help. A therapist would be able to look at your symptoms and see if it is anxiety that you’re experiencing, so they can diagnose you and then come up with a treatment plan.
