Sirmaur Accident: Youth Critically Injured by 11KV Line; Department Promises Action

On July 2, 2026, a local resident suffered a severe electric shock from an 11KV power line in Chunvi village, under the Chadna Gram Panchayat. Following the accident, the injured person was first taken to the Community Health Centre in Chadna; however, due to his critical condition, he was subsequently referred to IGMC Shimla. He is currently undergoing treatment.
After the incident, a large number of villagers visited the Electricity Department office to discuss safety concerns with officials. The Assistant Engineer stated that the site would be inspected, and the process of relocating the 11KV line would begin within 15 days, subject to the availability of necessary materials.
The villagers also pointed out several other locations in the village where power lines pose a threat to public safety. They urged the department to take prompt action regarding all such hazardous spots.
