This is probably the weirdest thing ever, but last night while I tried to fight my insomnia I was stuck in this thought. What kind of cologne would Mikami wear? I was thinking something subtle, but it would be interesting if Mikami would wear something bold. This is really weird but I just wanted to know what you would think as the Mikami Expert. I'm laughing as I type this but I did think last name "maybe I should see what Luna thinks"
I don’t think I have yet gotten an ask that I considered ‘the weirdest thing ever’ (least of all when it’s about Mikami), I adore weird detail thoughts!!I also adore how much I learn in trying to answer this shit, because let me tell you I have not given the concept of cologne a thought in my life before….(Specifically I actually have no idea what EXACTLY a cologne is, because ESL life etc, and google didn’t help me, so I will just pray I’m answering this right…)
What I found out is that perfume-ish smells are muuuch less popular in Japan than they are in the west because apparently body odor does not develop as strongly on Japanese people as on Westerners so there was less cultural reason for a fragrance culture to develop as pronouncedly in the first place.As such, wearing notable smells appears to be a no-go (especially on the workplace) in etiquette and fragrances are very faint if used at all.
So since Mikami is a good conformist citizen who is very, very interested in being perceived positively and professional at his workplace, I sincerely doubt he’d ever wear a bold smell and thus subject himself to sticking out negatively.
I personally feel like Mikami is not someone who would go out of his way to smell like anything specific and instead rather smell as indistinct as possible. I see him buying unscented deodrants and other bath products primarily. Thus the only thing I think Mikami really smells of is the indistinct scent of ‘clean’.
I mean, this is nothing provable with any canon evidence one way or another, but these are my two cents on it, haha.
