“The natural human societies to which all men belong, the family and the State exist to promote these goods.

The right to exist includes the necessity of protecting the right of innocent life in the State in all laws and the provision of the family (this includes the economy) to promote this right. This right includes the right to self-defense; the rejection of murder including abortion; the denial of self-mutilation, sterilization, terror and undue harsh treatment; the right to earn a living wage and to private property; and the responsibility to ensure just working conditions.

The right to have children entails the right to marry; the duty to guard chastity means that all extra-marital sex is a denial of this right; the right to a living wage and to have society guard and ensure hearth and home; the right to education of children which includes their physical, moral and intellectual well-being; the right to be raised by parents and have those parents decide what kind of education is best for their children to be good members of society, as well as the corresponding duty of piety and respect of the children to obey and honor their parents. This last right includes the duty also to material support of their parents in their infirmity.

These rights must be guaranteed by the State. They include a solicitude for the freedom of the investigation of the truth and the freedom to discover and practice a religion. The freedom of the Church to promote the Catholic faith and the public practice of the sacraments flows from this. The right of freedom of speech and association with others is also included. The only basis the State can have for denying these rights is if the association and speech are seditious or contrary to the natural law, such as a religion which would practice infant sacrifice or command the death of the wife with that of the husband.
