So I decided to start running on Monday and not give up. FAIL! I totally didn't run yesterday BUT that does not mean I've given up. Today is a new day and another chance. I want to tell you about experience tough on Monday. I was actually really surprised at my self. In the fall session at school I took soccer and as hard as I tried to build endurance I just could not. The pain was so unbearable. I'm not going to lie to you tough because I did build a little endurance to run almost half of half a mile (lol not much) with no stopping but still the pain was really bad the rest of the way I would have to walk and when time for playing came I felt pain. I would get really ugly sharp pain on my shins as well as an unbearable burning sensation in my calves. I would ask around to see what it might be, why it was hurting sooo much and if it was normal. Let me tell you right now I am not light weight I'm a 5'1 ft chick and I weigh 180lbs so losing weight is a must for my health. All I would get from people tough was, "I don't know", "It's because you don't run often", "That means it's working". That last one totally annoyed me. One day as I went to one of my girl friends home from a workout, I was feeling pain, she had barely gotten a treadmill and I wanted to try it out. I had already kicked off my shoes so I was like what the heck I'll just run barefoot. What! No Pain!? I was extremely surprised. I figured that maybe just maybe it was my shoes. Let's be honest here I have never really ran because of pain and the fear of pain and to me running and not feel pain was a supernatural thing. I researched on different shoes that would simulate barefoot running but would keep my feet protected. A friend recommended some Skora running shoes to me. So I saved up and bought them on Black Friday on sale. I did transition into them, I did not start running in them until this Monday. Yea I know I lag it and my determination is not my forte. So I walked in them and wore them to work since November of last year till now and when I ran in them this Monday, no pain. Yes! Finally I ran with no pain. Of course I did get tiered tough but I didn't stop due to pain. If I stopped it was only a few seconds to catch my breath and then kept running. I almost ran the whole mile without stopping. I did get the smallest of blisters because your supposed to ease into running in minimalist shoes but I took them farther than I ever had. I'm sure the blister will go away and my feet will get used to this idea. I'll keep you updated on this though. I am so sore at the moment I've never been sore from running but NOW I can say It's Working lol. I used here the MapMyRun app which worked really well for me. It automatically would split my run when I would be done with a mile and tell me my pace and the timing I had done it in. Also you can play your music through the app which is nice. Overall this running experience has been the best and the most motivating one that I have had in all my life.
