its many windows covered

by thick black muck

one of few, however

remains clear

and the seamen, trapped

gather round it

they all want one thing,

their hands joined

salvation from above

but as shaking voices grow louder

their joined hands now yield

disquiet in their minds

reason falls foul

and frenzied fists

slam to hemispheric glass

and their pounding betrays

as surrounding silt

settles on the glass

dooming them all
