My Hunger Games story started long long ago in 2010 (seems like it at least) in an English class. We had to read THG as a class and do various activities based on it. I was never (and have never really been) a reader. Being forced to read books that I had no interest in just put reading in the same category as math homework for me. The cover looked pretty boring to me just any other book, but the fact that I had the same name of the author caught my attention. I had no idea what it was going to be about and thought it was just going to be another annoying book that I was going to have to suffer through AGAIN. But…..let me tell you….I was SO wrong. The story of the evil President Snow and heroine Katniss Everdeen had the attention of every fiber of my being. I was actually enjoying reading a book! I soon found myself way ahead of the class and NEEDED to find out what happened next. Get this… I actually went to a bookstore and bought a novel, Catching Fire. It was the first time in my life I had actually bought a novel because I WANTED to. Of course, I flew right through the 75th Hunger Games. Mockingjay hadn’t been released yet and had everyone, especially me, in my class on edge about how Suzanne would end it all. We all had ideas about what color the cover of the third book would be,what it would be called, and what in the world was going to happen to our beloved Katniss. I pre-orded the book and was SO EXCITED the day it arrived in my mailbox all shiny and new! Myself and a couple of my classmates kept in touch with the teacher while we read Mockingjay. We cried. We all cried. It was over. It was done. Then Lionsgate bought the production rights and made everyone was obsessed again. I followed the production and casting right up until the movie was released in 2012. The rest is history. I have since been inspired and intrigued by Suzanne Collin’s incredible trilogy!
