Des room two electric boogaloo for Uni.
A continuation/enhancement of the previous room, this time with added value, color, lighting and materiality. Did another sketch on top to add the material to make it look like an actual wooden ship. A lot of the vibes of his room are a mix of wood and paper, a very homey, earthen and warm feel to it, with all his sketches, books and wood carvings around.

Work for uni, this time showing a lived in space in two perspectives. I chose to do Des’s quarters on the ship he is a First Mate to, the Swiftwing. It’s connected to the captain’s quarters directly, and given Des’s secluded nature actually has no doors from the hallway. Most of the walls are carved in intricate patterns, all done by Des’s hand, and the walls are covered in artwork and little cubbies with all his wood carvings. The right piece was done first, just to get a sense of the layout, but was more developed in the left sketch with a different perspective. The process included creating a singe floor layout then transforming it in perspective, after which certain things had to be adjusted because they didn’t look cohesive enough in the space itself. The room was meant to give off the energy of a room within a ship that is also a nest and save haven for a man who loves art and stories, including small secret homages to his past campaigns and growth :)

A variant of last week’s room, this time after an event. The swiftwing has long since sunk to the bottom of the sea, and while the boat itself has been lost to the elements, something magical still glows within the wreckage…
Decided to mostly color on top of the original piece using overlays and directly manipulating the scenario on top instead of redrawing it all, adding little environmental particles to give it the sense that it’s under water.

Assignment Name: Environment Design, Pt. 2
Tools: Procreate, iPad, Apple Pencil Pro Desc: A worn down, defunct Tunnel of Love Feedback: Originally, I wanted an outside perspective of a tunnel of love with the words "TUNNEL OF LOVE" plastered on a wall somewhere, but it was hard to find reference photos of the outside that would depict what I was looking to draw. It was much easier to find references for the interiors, which I find to be arguably creepier. I knew I wanted the vibes to be cheap, worn, and not well-maintained; it's meant to be a creepy dungeon-like area that the characters visit to find the entrance to the realm of Gods (in order to kill the God of Love). A lot of the texturing on the thin walls is meant to show a poor paint job that's now cracking from a lack of maintenance. I wanted to give the rest of the piece more texturing or light work but that's both a time and skill issue. I think the final reddish-pink hue that goes over the entire piece does well to tie things together and give it the creepy glow I wanted, but next time, I'd rather be more intentional about all of the textures and the coloring for everything (for instance, the swan would be presumably be white when the ride first opened and now it'd probably be yellowed with time, maybe even rusted over-- rather than red-pink).

Desc: Bar scene mixing both new world and old world decor where there is political struggle and limited resources.
Feedback: It would have been nice to flesh out this world a bit more before diving in and adding in objects. Right now it feels a bit cobbled together, but I think there is a way in which the "old world" "new world" ideas mix together more cohesively. I took inspiration from old Russian bars as well as more modern "gaming" type cafes.

Desc: A mess hall in a futuristic artificial-gravity space station. A bright, relaxed lounge space. A service robot is tidying tables, while a small companion robot passes by.
Feedback: Seems too plain so made up some shadows that shouldn't exist in the place. Would think of more reasonable ways to enrich the visuals.
