"I am not enough"

Repeats in my brain,

I feel the muscles in my tongue move

"Not enough"

And it's like everyone around me agrees

They know

And i feel like going with it

Not doing more, which is right along with the thought that I just need to stop

Eternally

For my own sake and the rest of this world

No more anxiety, no more painful swelling of the chest, sharp sighs with each tear,

No more doubt or midnight questioning.

Let's hope this slumber takes me where I long to be,

"I told you not to fall in love with me," he whispered as he locks my wrists in his grasp—a touch he hammered to permanence.

I fall silent as I allowed his lips to draw ruins from the hollow of my chest. Empty hazel eyes met mine—weapons of my destruction completely within reach but remained far away all the same. My fingers were at his pulse, but his heart was not beating for me.

As the ocean swallows the burning sun 365 times and doubled, I grieved. I built myself from the ruins with bloodied knuckles and scuffed elbows until I was a weapon staring back at him for the first time in years.

"Stay," he whispers as he dips his head at the crook of my neck.
