It takes into consideration the lack of individuality of ants —hence the emotionally neutral name in "Unit", and "Iron" was inspired by the metal casing that makes up its exoskeleton! —There's also the possibility that Durants are known to feed on raw Iron ores. Ironhide (Here comes another cool-sounding nickname for the Pokémon Durant! It was beauty trainer Rachel who suggested it; she especially liked it as it was inspired by the metallic armour the Pokémon wears to protect itself from its fiery predator, Heatmor. Verdict: 8.5/10)
Jawsome / Jaws (Ohhh!!! I like this one. It draws attention to the powerful set of jaws of the Pokémon and is impressive because it sounds cool. Schoolkid Desmond suggested this name when he first set his sights on Durant's mighty mandibles! Verdict: 8/10),
Army Ant / Colony / Soldier Ant (Now these are some clever nicknames. They all owe their origin to the Ant motif that led to the creation of Durant. They sound strong and are perfectly suited for the Pokémon. What's there not to love about them?)
Workman (Oh? Well, this moniker is completely based on the laboured lifestyle of worker ants. It sounds simple and has an emotionally neutral feel to it. It was Guitarist Roy who suggested it after coming home from a hard day of work. He sympathised with the laboured work life of his Durant. Aw, poor things!(╥﹏╥)
Durant Facts:
They lay their eggs deep inside their nests. When attacked by Heatmor, they retaliate using their massive mandibles.
Individuals each play different roles in driving Heatmor, their natural predator, away from their colony.
They attack in groups, covering themselves in steel armour to protect themselves from Heatmor.
