I know why, but it's still kind of absurd that Death gets his sick ass introduction and then dresses Dean down over his inflated ego to start their conversation, but then the end of said conversation pivots hard to "Sam is the Chosen One so let him beat the Devil" said directly to the camera. Like Mr. Richings delivers it with enough gravitas to cover up most of the dissonance, but still fucking crazy to use THIS point of view to lock in the protagonist beam. Why the fuck would DEATH think that the bacteria he's never even met is his best chance against the temper tantrum child Lucifer, and why the fuck is he giving Dean family hard truth therapy about it?
