This was our first writing jam! We held it virtually over Zoom with 4 group leaders and 25 kids from the IAWW Youth Outreach Program.

It was a real joy to work with these kids. At first, most of them were shy--even I was, as this was our first event--but as we went through it and kept sharing what we wrote, the ice melted. Their vibrant imaginations gave me hope and reminded me what it’s like to be that age.

It followed this format:

Provide a prompt for the kids to answer.

Give the kids ~5-10 minutes to write response to the prompt.

Break into 4 groups where members go around and share what they wrote.

Collect responses from kids and publish them on this website.
