And nah, Gregor is explicitly stated to be Jo’s brother-in-law, so obviously he can’t be her biological brother as well. V.F.D. members tend to intermarry a lot, but this is pushing it to a whole new Habsburgian level.

So although there are reasons to believe Bertrand Baudelaire and Jacob Snicket took their wives’ last names, it’s entirely possible that Josephine preferred taking her husband’s last name (just like his mother D., coincidentally).
