Former One Direction star Liam Payne tweets BirminghamLive during a knife crime debate
Former One Direction star Liam Payne has challenged people not to carry knives.
Instead he wants them to become 'greater than you have thought you could be'.
His thoughts have been revealed after BirminghamLive reporter Jane Haynes copied Liam into a tweet meant for Liam Byrne MP asking him to join in counselling kids about knife crime in the West Midlands.
Jane owned up to her gaffe online by tweeting: "I’ve only just realised I tagged LiamPayne instead of Liam Byrne
LiamByrneMP Easy mistake. I’m sure they both care about the horrific numbers of kids carrying knives in West Mids and would urge them to put them down."
And in the true spirit of the positive side of social media, the Wolverhampton-born singer with 32 million Twitter followers decided to reply.
Liam wrote: "I’m with you completely.
"Having a knife in your pocket doesn’t make you any more of a person. It makes you a risk put it down and don’t become a statistic. Find your power in other things that make you become more and greater than you ever thought you could be."
Jane replied to Liam: "Much appreciated. Stay well and happy, doing West Mids proud :-)."
