We’ve laughed about Jamie’s annoyance with the printer. We’ve giggled about his dad-glasses. We’ve rolled our eyes about his nonchalance while reading his own obituary.

Have we talked about Jamie’s casually holding a 20th-century photocopy of an 18th-century newspaper page?

He doesn’t skip a beat. It’s like he handles stuff from the future every day (Claire notwithstanding 😉).

Other than Claire’s white dress in Sassenach — which the Highlanders repeatedly call her shift — and her clothing, photographs, and penicillin pouch from her return in A. Malcolm — what else has Jamie “held” from the future? What has ANYBODY born before the 20th century HELD from the 20th century?

He doesn’t seem to show interest in the paper’s being of different stock and quality from newsprint he’s used to, and he doesn’t seem to notice the librarian’s note attached to the page. How do two separate pieces of paper behave as one piece?

Oh, crap! I just realized — duh —not only is he holding a 20th-century item, he is able to read news and advertisements from 177-something in 1769! (Imagine our being able to read 2020 information... Picking lottery numbers... Investing in stock... Supporting a political candidate... Anyone?)

No, what’s important to Jamie is sloppy, smudged ink. The man has his priorities.
