sehun did not think he could stand that kind of mental and emotional pain again, of being promised a safe haven, and for it to be taken away in a heartbeat. and if his heart still beat, he would be terrified as it resonated in his eardrums every second of his life.

sen was much different than luhan. nicer, and what sehun liked about sen was that he did not have an obligation to be nice to the misguided ghost. sen was just there – solely for the reason that he liked being around sehun despite his experiences with the dead. and while that was hard to believe, considering two centuries of people who just came and went in his life, sehun tried.

because sen always made it sound so genuine.

so genuine that sehun had to close his eyes, and clench his fist, the moment their lips touched.

everyday had been a taxing routine, and having had stumbled upon sen made his life a tad bit more exciting. only a tad, because sehun could not see him as much as he wanted to, having his priorities in check. but sehun always anticipated the next time their eyes would meet, and sehun always felt like sen looked into them rather than through.

it was a faulty resistance, sehun knew, as their faces moved closer until their lips were an inch apart.

“i can’t do this.”

“i know.”

but sehun leaned forward anyway, and closed the gap between them. despite cold, chapped lips, sen did not pull away, and instead brought sehun even closer, pulled him onto his lap. a hand pressed itself on the nape of sen’s neck, while sehun felt one of sen’s hand resting against his lower back.

sehun pulled back just enough to speak, to mumble against sen’s lips,

“i can’t love you.”

sen reached up, cupped sehun’s pale face in his hand. sehun leaned into the warmth, and sen looked up at him as if he just lost the most beautiful thing in the world.
