I've been on the lexapro formonth, I've felt all those symtoms before but some are much worse now. I tried the silent treatment with one of my friends cause I realised we only talk when I make the effort. It took her three months to bother texting me of her own accord, and the last time we had chatted previously I had been very upset from hearing that someone on this website had passed away (it was all over the news too cause be had actually been in the halifax shooting plot) - DeathAddict Part1
DeathAddict Part2 - he had committed suicide. My other friends are giving me so many mixed messages. I guess I should try another tactic. I spoke to my dad about him maybe paying for more sessions for me and he just laughed and said it looked like I’d have to sort out all my life problems in the three free sessions. Yesterday my course ended and because I’m so awkward I didn’t get people’s phone numbers!! No you haven’t shared that thing with me, can if you want
Lexapro usually takes 4-6 weeks to kick in, so it’s possible that you need to wait a little longer to see if it starts to help. Have you told your prescribing doctor about these symptoms? If not, I would do that ASAP!
Oh, I’ve talked to you before, haven’t I? I remember you sending in a message about knowing someone from the Halifx shooting.
I’m sorry that it took your friend three months before she texted you. Have you tried talking to her about this? Like asking her why it took her three months to text you and explain to her how hurtful that is? I know it seems obvious that she should realize these things on their own, but sometimes people are so wrapped up in their lives that they don’t realize how their actions (or lack thereof) are affecting the people closest to them. Basically what I’m saying is that you should just lay all of this out on the table once and for all.
What mixed messages are your other friends giving you?
I’m sorry your dad reacted that way. That was very callous and cold of him :( Is there anyway you could raise some extra money to pay for your own sessions? Like maybe babysit, get a part-time job, anything like that?
As for the list technique... whenever you are feeling down or feel like you have nothing to live for, get a piece of paper. Write down all of the people you love and care about. Then write down all of your favorite hobbies. Then write down all of your dreams and goals. Then write down all of the things you want to do in life. Then write down places you want to visit and people you want to meet. Then write down your favorite food. Your favorite music. Your favorite flower. Your favorite season. Your favorite animal.
Then take a look at the list you created. See all of these things? These are all things you will miss out on if you kill yourself. These are all reasons you should keep living! You can either keep the list somewhere where you can pull it out easily and add to it, or you can create a new list each time you feel this way. Hopefully making this list will help you realize all of the things that you have to live for.
