-aesic: a suffix for genders related to any aesthetics
(this is a more detailed version of this coining post!)
so the suffixĀ ā-coricā is a way to denote that a gender is related to a -core aesthetic - hereās the coining post, which describes proper usage of the suffix. however, some people have begun using -coric for genders related to non-core aesthetics (or even genders that arenāt related to aesthetics at all, but thatās another issue to address). this improper use can cause confusion about the actual meaning of -coric, so iām proposing a new suffix for genders that are related to some sort of aesthetic:Ā ā-aesicā!
for those who havenāt really seen any misuses of -coric, hereās a hypothetical situation in which -coric would not be correct to use, but -aesic would:
letās say you want to coin a gender related to the golden hour aesthetic. this aesthetic does not use the -core suffix, and therefore, calling thisĀ āgoldencoricā,Ā āgoldenhourcoricā, or anything like that would be incorrect. however, usingĀ āgoldenaesicā,Ā āgoldenhouraesicā, etc. would work!
this could also work for those who experience a -coric gender in a more specific way! for example, a while back, mogai-monarchs posted about some of their terms being redefined by lgbta wiki users, so iāll use one of those definitions as an example. letās say your gender is related specifically to cute/ākawaiiā plushies and hello kitty plushies. rather than redefiningĀ āplushcoricā for your specific experience and causing confusion, you could coin something likeĀ ācuteplushaesicā,Ā ākittyplushaesicā, etc.!
obviously, you donāt have to use -aesic for aesthetic-related genders if you prefer not to. however, please remember not to misuse -coric!
also, this is not related to the -aesic coining, but is related to the use of -coric, so i figured iād include it in this post. if an aesthetic uses a different suffix from -core - hereās some suffix examples - donāt use -coric for a gender related to it either! instead, you could use -aesic or any other suffix you like, or you could put -ic at the end of the aesthetic suffix. examples includeĀ ā-academicā,Ā ā-gothicā,Ā ā-keicā,Ā ā-punkicā, andĀ ā-wavicā. i donāt believe any of these suffixes have an official coining post like coric, but i have seen nearly all of them used!
