Did Matt knowingly give Dex the ability to escape prison? Idk hereās some thoughts tho
āim begging for my life, counselorā Under Mattās moral compass, leaving Dex there and not helping him, especially after dex says this, is similar to killing him. Matt very much does not let people die if he can do something to prevent it (and I donāt think heās really put words to his whole āIām saving you because I tried to kill youā thing from s2, but the feeling is still probably there). So he would help in the only way he could/was willing to by giving dex a weapon to protect himself.
However, Matt had to have known giving Dex a weapon of any kind would lead to people dead. Thatās not something Matt would allow. Thereās an argument to be made that maybe he just wanted to give Dex a tool for self defense when needed, but the idea that Dex wouldnāt use that same tool to kill whoever and escape would be wildly naive and not like Matt.
āThank you counselorā Matt had to have known what else that meant. Itās not like Matt did anything helpful. His āfuck youā is in line with just how he feels generally about Dex, but can also be read as him being furious that Dex correctly read that Matt wouldnāt let someone die if he could help it. Fuck you for making me help you because I canāt let someone die, etc.
Also. Matt has super hearing and Iām supposed to believe he couldnāt tell a tooth got knocked loose?
But then, Matt visibly did not expect Dex to be at the gala, or go after the Fisks. If he knew Dex had the ability to escape, itās unlikely heād be so surprised by all that. Even if the target wasnāt the Fisks, it would probably be someone. Maybe he thought Dex wouldnāt go kill anyone but again, that would be crazy naive and not like Matt.
..Iām making no conclusions Iām just putting ideas out there
I may (may) be lucky and have an interview with a cool anthropology podcast discussing therianthropy and the furry fandom and how humans have been anthromophizing animals/identifying as other animals since practically the beginning, I think it'll be a cool discussion :3
