My family: *drives the neighbourhood crazy with our pinoy love for tacky, flashing christmas lights*

Me: *shows off crazy blinking plastic snowman*

Mom: Uh! Where did you get that?

Me: At the Christmas market.

Mom: *observes with interest* How much was it?

Me: Not much. I was lucky, they doubled the price a few days later.

Mom: Ah, lucky find!

Me: Would you like me to put it up, then?

Mom: Yeah, sure!

Me: *snark* *I knew it* Where shall I put it, then?

Me: *stops because children get in the way*

She: *walks behind me* *stops as well* *frowns at me*

Me: It's children. I can't push them over!

She: Why ever not?

Me: But their parents will sue us!

Me: Oh. *tension rises*

Me: *sigh of utter relief*

Beta-reader: I just have a question about that scene where she's in the garden.
