So... the Endgame awards' "For your consideration" is out... I know many people were hoping RDJ would get nominated, but I think that would've been a "participation prize" nomination and not a solid could-actually-win nomination... tbh I think marvel (or more accurately Disney) would love to have the latter option, especially since the actor playing the joker is getting that kind of buzz (again). So even if they don't include RDJ later, I would kind of understand, but... idk, what do you think?
Nothing saying he can’t still get nominated... Gwendoline Christie submitted herself for the Emmys, and got a nomination.
That being said, Disney/Marvel has been cutting back their awards campaigns over the past couple of years. In 2017, they had campaigns for both GotG2 and Ragnarok, with most of the major actors listed.
But last year they changed that up and put everything behind BP. They still listed actors, though. And that worked better for them. I’d be willing to bet MBJ was thisclose to a supporting actor nom.
I think this is probably reasonable for them. It IS an ensemble, and Best Supporting Actor (which was where he was rumoured to be placed) and Best Actor are both stuffed with candidates this year. Also, you get into the whole is RDJ lead or is Evans lead? And then there’s a cast of 40+people.
I honestly think the best thing would be a Special Achievement Oscar for Feige for the MCU as a whole, like they did with Walt Disney for Snow White. Plus Alan Silvestri for score, Visual FX, Sound awards are good possibilities, too. Does it sneak a BP nom? Maybe?? They can vote up to 10 nominees in that category, and it will be tough to ignore the box office.
