So I’ve been watching all of the English paper piecing/mosaic piecing videos on YouTube while I work and I just … I know this is yucking someone’s yum, but man, if you put all this effort into sewing precise shapes around paper (which you’ve either also cut out very precisely or bought) by hand, and joined them all together by hand, and possibly have also actually quilted everything together also by hand, AND you’re making a huge quilt for your bed, why make it out of ugly mismatched scraps

Tbf I KNOW I don’t really like a scrappy quilt, because quilting is my “all the colors and all the shapes magically go together for one large pattern that is coordinated and so beautiful” hobby, and I think my taste in fabric is substantially different from most people who do hand quilting, but also. All that effort and it’s not gorgeous??? WHY BOTHER

There are just so many beautiful ways that shapes can tesselate together that are also full of colors (PLEASE look at a Tula Pink quilt with her own fabric because oh my GOD), and your scraps are inevitably in the colorways you like (or at least aren’t absolutely offended by)… it’s just… so beauty… and the ones with random fabrics are so UNbeauty
