not to drop unprompted bg3 tav thoughts
but I keep thinking that Roan, mr "I am basically part dragon", totally tried to use his sorcery powers to raise his body temperature to "kill the tadpole" at least once
@feena-c Roan doesn’t have any siblings and he’s not particularly close with anyone in his extended family. In fact, he is the annoying cousin (he of course thinks of himself as a rebel) :D
He’s favorite color is royal blue!
I'm not sure I understood what you meant, but I love the idea of Roan being mad because he's the only sorcerer in a family of wizards that treats him poorly (but not really) So he's like "Of course you would think that of your SORCERER CHILD, DAD" And his dad's like ??
The companions are like, "That's why he buys so many nice outfits. Lack of support growing up."
He’s not mad per se, he just got into his rebellious phase as a teenager and never quite grew out of it :D
Also why do I have to meticulously transcribe 100 different spells I don’t need when almost anything can be solved with just 1 fireball I can create with the snap of my fingers, DAD
But he buys tons of fancy clothes because he has no concept of money x)
Given Roan's family being full of wizards, do you think he ever had to learn from a tutor or someone else when it came to the technique sorcerers need to use to control their connection to the Weave? Was his family supportive of him? How was his childhood like?
Okay to add a bit of context before I’m gonna say anything about Roan’s training and childhood x)
I don’t really know much (nor care much) about “canon” Faerun-verse so let’s imagine an unnamed city somewhere with a big institution in place that provides tutoring for up-and-coming wizards (and other magic adjacent professions). And it has Roan’s family name all over it. You know this thing when rich people donate a lot of money to some university and they like name a building after them.
So from the young age Roan’s parents pushed heavily for him to be *properly* tutored in the ways of the Weave. Roan found that whole ordeal to be incredibly tedious, his teachers dull and their lessons restrictive. Despite all his resistance he did manage to pick up some things, mostly the theory as he still prefers to do things his own way (you don't measure! you just go with the feeling!).

Portrait of a young noble
"Ordered for a family gallery. Reportedly, after many missed sittings the artist was finally able to finish it, once the lady of the house had threatened to disown his unruly model".
because I'm so smart and hot I decided that Roan is a singular sorcerer in a family full of wizards 🔥🧙♂️ 🔥
