“God damn it what did you do now?!”
The Boss and Pierce both turn their attention from the TV at the sound of Angel’s voice. He storms across the penthouse and comes to a stop behind the couch, looking down at the Boss.
“Didn’t we just have a discussion about doing things without running it by me? Now you’re burning down the Decker base?”
Silence is the only answer he gets, with the Boss just raising their eyebrows over the rims of their sunglasses before looking over at Pierce.
“Uh,” he says. “Angel we didn’t do that.” Angel deflates a little, his eyes going wide.
“What?” he asks. “Then who did?”
“Better question is why you were so quick to assume it was me,” Boss says, crossing their arms over their chest. Angel doesn’t seem to have an answer for that, and he shifts a little and avoids eye contact.
“I bet it was Killbane,” Pierce says. The other two look at him intently and he just shrugs. “It makes sense. Miller’s gone, which means that base has just been sitting empty and ripe for the taking. Killbane don’t want us to get it, and he probably ain’t got no use for an empty nuclear reactor.”
Pierce shrugs a little.
“I’m just sayin’, what would you do?”
“Good point. I’d put it to the torch too,” the Boss says, rubbing their chin a little. “Damn we should’ve stormed that place and taken it as soon as we got word about Miller leaving.”
“Jesus,” Angel mutters. “Eddie’s burning out his own buildings now, he’s really cracking.”
“I dunno, strategically it makes sense,” Pierce says. Angel shakes his head and leans on the back of the couch.
“No,” he says, “Eddie must not have known Matt Miller was leaving. He would have filled the base with Luchadores or something, this is him being petty and sending a message specifically to Matt.”
Pierce lets out a low whistle.
“That’s fucking crazy,” the Boss says.
“That’s Eddie for you.”
“Well, whatever the reasoning I’m just glad it’s not me fighting this dude at Murderbrawl,” Pierce says.
“Thanks for that, Pierce,” the Boss says. “It’s really appreciated.”
