“i’m just trying to play my game and play the way the team plays and i get more confidence after every game. so i mean, that’s good for me and just try to skate as much as possible and try to create opportunities for my linemates and play the way the other guys want to.”

“i never really watched the nhl too much or think of it as a career for me, but i just played hockey to enjoy it and have fun with my friends. then at that point, i think you know the agents started calling and you start getting talked about the ohl and being a draft pick; it kinda creeps into your mind a little bit that this could turn into something serious.”

“you want guys chasing you around. you want guys asking because that means you’re doing something right. if guys aren’t asking you, then you’re probably doing something wrong or you’re not doing your job right.”

“i think it was being around successful people and people that wanted me to be successful. my billet family was awesome, my parents were great, and right away i was able to fit in instantly with the group of guys and the coaching staff, and they pushed me in the right direction.”

“you’ve just got to keep on doing the little things. i think you keep on getting your shots and getting your looks, which i think have been coming. sooner or later one’s going to go in. you keep on putting stuff to the net. even if you don’t score, you’re going to create something or a second chance.”

“it’s way different to get hurt at the start of the season. i think it’s more difficult to come back from it. you wanna play and be out there, but at the same time it kinda pushes you to try to get back on the ice as quick as you can.”

“i mean the entire experience: the playoffs, making it to the playoffs, playing in the nhl altogether is been pretty surreal and it’s slowly starting to sink in.”

“i have so much more to learn, and so much more to experience. i know i haven’t reached my potential. i don’t know if i can ever reach that potential but i know i do have a lot more in me and a lot more improving to do and i can become a lot better hockey player.“
