05. Sokka/Toph + Zuko/Katara (A:TLA) I still can’t choose which otp I love most from this show. They both hold such a special place in my heart. I love the close friendship each has, albeit each a very different friendship and perhaps that’s why I can’t choose which one I prefer, simply because the dynamic differs so much. Tokka is that fun, let’s prank our friends, teasing friendship, while Zutara is that more we’re not so different after all, but have so much in common, I relate to you so much friendship. But it’s been so clear that both relationships have so much faith and trust in each other.

04. Korra/Asami Sato (Legend of Korra) Do I even have to explain why this lovely pair made it into my top five? ;) In all honesty, though, back with S1 I was mainly an Iroh/Asami shipper (I still like that ship, but it’s not my most favourite anymore), until a friend of mine pointed out the potential Korrasami could have and after that I was sold. It’s the ship you really wanted to become canon, but never expected it to be, and then to your pleasant surprise it actually did become canon! I truly rejoiced with the series finale and that beautiful ending (beginning) they received. 

03. Pacey Witter/Joey Potter (Dawson’s Creek)  I wonder how much Pacey/Joey fics I would have written if I had known about fandom when I was watching this show. (Answer: A lot.) I love these two so so much, you have no idea. And even after all the rewatches (minus season five, I tend to skip that season), I still love them so much.

02. Dick Grayson/Artemis Crock (Young Justice)  This could have been everything! I still don’t understand why they weren’t canon tbh. As I’ve stated plenty a time on my blog, they were so great together, because they understood each other (they had so much in common) and trusted each other so much (best stealth partners on the team). 

I’m still mad we never got to see how Artemis found out about Dick’s real identity and we never got to see them laugh about it that some day, though. I really feel cheated over this, not afraid to admit that.

01. Taichi Yagami/Mimi Tachikawa (Digimon)  This is the otp of all otps (as is, like Traught, probably very obvious based on my blog). This is the otp that got me into fandom all those years ago. So of course this otp was going to earn the number one spot.

I really do believe they could have been everything as well. Their personalities just go so great together and could make for such interesting dynamic: They’re both fun-loving, passionate and tenacious (let’s say stubborn, haha). 

As I’ve mentioned before in a different post, I love the “perhaps, maybe, almost, finally; a will they/won’t they” scenario for them, mainly because it fits them to a tee. I can see them becoming closer and closer as friends, because they understand each other so well, and then being utterly and completely in denial about how they truly feel about each other. Everyone around them would place bets on “when it’ll finally officially happen” (and especially Hikari and Sora would be very invested in their budding relationship - shippers on deck). And of couse there will be screw-ups and misunderstandings, because again they’re both tenacious (stubborn) and also careful to not get their hearts broken because this (them) is so very real (and lbr the ones who seem the bravest aren’t fearless), to which we travel into the “what happened? what went wrong? why couldn’t we make it work?” realm of their relationship. Until they really do learn from their mistakes and can’t keep running away from this, so when it finally officially happens it’ll be one of those “I love you. I love you so much. I’ve always loved you and always will love you.” confessions. 

(You can even easily throw in a friends with benefits-storyline for them.)

(Clearly I have a type: best friends who love to challenge each other, who love engaging in witty playful banter with each other, who have so much in common and above all trust each other.)

Yamato and Taichi have a plan to carry out Operation: Reverse Valentine, since they felt bad for always receiving chocolates from Sora and Mimi. Agumon and Gabumon watch over the two as they struggle with their cake making. (Source.)

I really hope this isn’t a wrong translation, because how adorable and amazing would this be? ...Somebody pinch me, I’m dreaming.

We all know (despite tri not wanting to show it) that Yamato and Sora are in a relationship. So it’d be really welcoming to see them interact as an actual couple. :)

But that leaves Taichi and Mimi together and OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW BLESSED WE ARE!! Not only do we have the possibility of them pairing up for Valentine, there is the implication that Mimi has been sending Taichi chocolates many times!!! HOW AMAZING IS THIS??

Q: What’s going on between Taichi, Yamato, and Sora? A: Taichi and Sora are classmates at the same school. High school is complicated period, so it’s not like there are any official relationships going on between them. Furthermore, due to Meiko transferring-in, new relationships are being born, and honestly, I think that it shouldn’t be very surprising to see changes between their relationships in any way shape or form in the near future. I know I’ve ranted a little about this in my tags, but I gave it more thought (since I reblogged that post immediately after reading it), and I feel that I haven’t ranted enough on the matter, because I honestly feel very conflicted about this possibility.

First of all, it’s very frustrating that they keep on shipbaiting Taiorato triangle for many reasons. 1) We know that Sora and Yamato are in a relationship. We’ve seen them be together during 02. We’ve seen official art of 02 with them pictured as a couple in group hangouts (remember that group picture with his arm slung over her shoulders). We know that they are married with two kids in the epilogue. So why the need to shipbait Taiorato and not show Sora and Yamato together, as we already know they are... And I’ve discussed this with the lovely @hellyeahayumichan but they keep answering these triangle questions with “Taichi and Sora are just classmates/friends”, but they never touch on Sora and Yamato (or - and this is even more hilarious - even Taichi and Yamato, while they have shown more Taito moments than anything in the actual tri series...). Tl;dr this shipbaiting is ridiculous.

Especially considering that they now seriously hinted at Taichi/Meiko becoming an item with the whole: “due to Meiko transferring-in, new relationships are born, and [...] see changes between their relationships in any way shape or form.” And this is the part where I’m conflicted...

I don’t hate Meiko. Far from it, actually. She’s a sweet and caring character, and I love what we’ve seen so far of her friendship with Mimi. (Plus it could also be because of the fact that her appearance reminds me a lot of Yomiko Readman from the Read or Die OVA which I loved! Speaking of which, I should rewatch that sometime soon.) And I’m very excited about the prospect of getting to know this character and her background better in the next tri instalment. But I personally can’t see her with Taichi. I don’t think they’d be very compatible.  (That could change, though, when we get to know this character better, but as of now? No, I don’t think Taichi and her are compatible.) Plus we haven’t really seen Taichi make an effort to get to know her? While Sora, Mimi, Hikari and Takeru have.

It’s fairly obvious (well, I think it is?) that Taichi/Mimi is my ultimate otp. (And not just in Digimon. It’s my ultimate otp in general, with Dick/Artemis from Young Justice as a close second.) But I ship both characters with many other characters. These two characters are, despite them together being my otp, my fandom bicycles. And while I’ve always been very realistic about Taichi and Mimi never becoming canon, I still secretly hope that they will become canon. So if Taichi/Meiko are endgame, I can comfort myself a little bit by the fact that because Meiko and Mimi are so close friends, Mimi and Taichi will hang out a lot. (Even if Meiko’s thrown in that interaction mix.) (I always have to have my Michi, guys.)

I may not be sold on the idea of Taichi/Meiko, even though I’ve had this gut feeling that they might go there ever since the two saw each other at his building in the beginning of Saikai (and then later on with that stare in the classroom), I’m going to brace myself for it. I just hope that, at the very least, we’ll get some development towards them getting together (if they are endgame, that is), and that it won’t be a sudden “omg I looked in your eyes and now I know we’re (digi)destined to be.”

But hey, in worst case scenario, I can always ignore canon. Practically all my otps are fanon, so I’m used to that.
