Thoughts on Ian and his promise ring for Mickey in s10?

I've seen and I still do see a lot of people hating him for it and just telling him to put an actual ring on Mickeys finger(so basically forcing Ian to do something that he doesn't want to do) but I don't think people get that Ian was still feeling unsure(not unsure about his love for Mickey other anything like that), just unsure about marriage to Mickey and how he doesn't want to fuck it all up..because y'know? Growing up without seeing like one stable couple that are married does mess your head up AND also Ian has always had insecurities within himself and how he thinks that he doesn't deserve certain things🤷🏽‍♀

Personally I loved him for doing it because it showed that he still loved Mickey and wanted to be with him but not get married yet.

personally i loved it <3 like i do think it was obviously not the right thing in that moment and i understand why mickey didn’t like but i love the way it’s literally a symbol of ian’s problems with marriage if that makes sense 😭 like the way he picked it out intending for it to be an engagement ring and then after he thought about it and really took stock of whether or not he wanted to get married and it turned into a promise ring (aka something that’s still a symbol of love but something that’s not enough for mickey)... it’s kinda genius i can’t lie

#i mean you already know i'm obsessed and in love with that conflict so that's just another facet of it <3 #and yeah like... mickey gave ian a (pretty unfair) ultimatum #and even though i 100% understand why he did so and think his perspective is so interesting and good #(he literally just couldn't handle being 'left' by ian again and wanted so badly to have that stability and surety in their relationship)#it's really not fair to expect ian to just... change his thoughts about marriage just bc of it #which is why i kinda hate the whole resolution to that conflict even though i love the conflict itslef #*itself #like ian deserved better imo and it would have been nice to actually SEE him resolve his issues with marriage #but whatever it's cool #i wrote a meta about that forever ago bc i couldn't get over the lack of resolution 😭#but anyways yeah i love that conflict i love the promise ring mwah #anon #t

Hey!!! Sorry this is a bit late and I hope you still get this, but honestly speaking, I don’t and never really felt much for writing for them, but that being said, I’m still writin Mercy. I’m technically rewriting all of it as an original story (which I’ll explain later in an author’s note) but once I get my shit together since university has been kicking my ass I’ll be gradually updating it just because I know how shitty leaving a story abandoned is and also because I’m too attached to the story lol

i didn’t get this dialogue the first time :(. sou has a really good family who loves him so i’m assuming his paranoia and anxiety mostly stems from the @v@ guy with the neon ponytail. im glad he has a good support system and people who care for him outside the game bc ch2 dialogue makes you think otherwise
