Miss Iraq and Miss Israel posted a selfie with one another promoting peace and love.
Miss Iraq, Sarah Idan, started getting death threats and pressure to delete this selfie by the Miss Iraq organization. Despite saying she does not support the Israeli government, she and her family have fled Iraq due the extremely harsh, unnecessary, and violent backlash she has received.
My thoughts are with her and her family. I'm really sad that such an innocent post has led to this. We live in such a fucked up world that people not only think this behavior is appropriate, but an organization and a government are willing to throw out an individual who represents them so proudly just because they promoted peace alongside the "enemy."
