The drooly boys are actually lab rats that elwin transformed into elves

Elwin mad scientist arc, please and thank you. he found 5 or 6 feral rats in the back of a Denny's garbage bin during a visit to the human world and took them home. Bullhorn hated them, so he tried to give them elixirs to make them more docile and controllable, but then they turned into elves and he had to fabricate paperwork and all the proper documentation for them.

or was this a purposeful thing? he wanted to turn animals into elves--maybe for he could hear their thoughts--and started with rats, and that's how we got the drooly boys. I think it would also be funny if he wanted to just temporarily transform them but then couldn't undo it so there's just six rats in human forms wandering around the world.

every so often you can catch one of the drooly boys digging through the trash (note: do elves have trash? what's their waste management system?) as they're temporarily brought back to their rat roots and that Denny's garbage Elwin first found them in.
