looking back at it, I have way too many issues with the poppy war trilogy
I hated how it treated its female characters I hated its ending I hated its weird pacing I hated how it reads like a history fanfic and most of all I hated how it introduced a wide range of extremely relevant topics of conversation and utterly fails to examine them in a thoughtful and well-explored manner
even if their ages did work their personalities are terrible for each other, all they would ever do is make each other upset it would be super toxic
nooo but literally... i do not think they are on the same level of openness at all and while i do love them being great friends i think them being in a relationship would put a lot of pressure on their characteristics that clash hard and barring the ages i can understand shipping something that isnt 100% healthy and will crash and burn but sonamy fans.... dont do that <3
Anyway I guess what gets me so much about Natalie’s comment is that she’s been in a lot of misogynistic movies yet she does that comment at the golden globes @ Del Toro who made a movie with extremely strong female and minority representation but ok 👀

i guess the takeaway here is that if youre going to create a perfect utopia model society you should give women equal opportunities at least on paper like how can “a woman?” “no, a crewman” and other broad statements of equality exist at the same time as “now you will know the indignity of being a woman” and the implication women couldnt be captains
