Knightey is a hero unknowingly trapped in a time paradox with two clear objectives: 1) defeat the boss and 2) save the world. He wakes up in the Lost Desert with a sword and picture of a Jetsam.

Has been lead to believe this boss is Gustallo, who views Knightey as a minor annoyance and defeats him with ease, resulting in a “game over”. 

Knightey restarts his timeline with no memory of his defeat or his friends/party members

Everything resets for his friends as well (Zanren, Jewelflower, Rouset, and Jellyjaws), and they are sent back to their respective lands with no memories of each other, but they are always fated to meet again

Gus, Raq, Arwit, and Dino just think they’re all delusional LARPers

Surrounded by a reef that results in a nice little lagoon around the island. The reef also serves as an enchanted barrier that keeps most of the stronger ghouls (Deadfin included) from escaping. It was put in place by the escaping shamans who survived Deadfin’s initial rampage. Dream is a descendant of these shamans.

Geographically (neographically???), it’s located near Lutari Island and also largely avoided by navigators and even Maraquans out of fear of a curse

Has been targeted by research vessels, but none of these vessels are ever heard from again. Also fuels rumors of a curse

Anthropogenic impacts and Dream’s own plans have caused the reef to bleach, weakening the barrier. Only lesser ghouls have been able to slip past so far though

Victims that are lured here or captured are used as part of Dream’s magic experiments
