i think the largest thing that bothers me about this site and just generally being PC is that a lot of people who happen to be white are automatically judged as being on the wrong side of the tracks when wearing native american articles of clothing (war bonnets and war paint) or the side of wearing bindis such as most hindu people do.
I've studied my fair amount of cultures and their practices to have a well enough understanding of it all. But this also makes me like these practices, i know astonishing.
and now I'm sick of getting comments of being a poser hipster/hippie for welcoming practices of other cultures into my life. stop automatically believing I'm an idiot blonde bimbo and understand that i have no real culture other than being american. I've taken it upon myself to be a melting pot of things that i love in the world.
so get off your high horse and understand that yes their will be the usual hipster who dawns that feathers and paint but there will also be the other side who genuinely enjoys these types of things.
beside it all, us 'white' people are not infringing on native american, holy practices. you do not see us participating in the ghost dances, peyote religion and many other things that truly mean so much to the native americans.
so leave it be, its an aesthetic of the culture and has nothing to do with what truly makes a person a part of that community and its practices.
get angry at the things that actually hurt these cultures instead of sitting their moaning over hipsters
