Just a rule of thumb for anyone new to the whole commissioning thing.Â
IF AN ARTIST HAS A SET OF RULES, THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY HAVE THOSE RULES! IF THE RULES MAKE YOU UPSET THEN THEY PROBABLY DON’T WANT YOU COMMISSIONING THEM.Â
Just saying. They have commission rules to avoid the people who are either into something they aren’t willing to draw or people who try to low-ball artist. Respect another person’s wishes, or at the very least, don’t be a dick and question their rules they made for themselves.Â
Those rules aren’t for your comfort, they are for the artist’s own personal comfort. K-THANKS~Â
hm. interesting hostile experiences with a progressive (vent but also I am so confused)
got dismissively told I was generalizing (like it was a bad thing) because I said women aren't allowed to be angry but men are. because I'm not acknowledging the nuance in individual situations? And because "times are changing"??
And coming from someone educated I don't even know where to go from there if you're not willing to accept that women are treated differently than men? Like...after we reach the point where you're not agreeing w something so clearly obvious as a personal and anecdotal given, and something studied for SO many years now, there's nowhere to go. I mean her point was to be insulting and shut me up so goal accomplished I guess but???
I see this attitude a lot in regards to racism - i.e. "we used to be racist but not anymore" - but usually from white people who don't experience racism so they don't know that it still exists (in which case you can show them examples/explain and they'll come to see it) or because they don't want it to exist/don't care/benefit from racism.
but seeing basically the same argument from a woman who agreed w me minutes prior when i used different words to explain it, defending against (what i thought was an extremely bland everyday acknowledgement that) women arent allowed to be angry like men are is just....its mind boggling. She said herself that when we're angry we're told we're being a bitch?????
They were not kidding about the internalized patriarchy I guess? Is it trying to believe something into reality? I do not understand.
