Just to be clear, you do realize that reds are polluted, right? People don't think they're gross because of ~~prejudice~~, they think they're gross because they objectively are.
No, I have lived for over a decade on Amenta, been #red rights for basically my entire adult life, and I have never in any way realized this. You are definitely the first person to ever mention it to me. What a revelation.
Anyway, now that we’ve covered that, yes, obviously I’m aware reds are polluted. (Though ex-reds, having been through cleaning, of course are not.) Reds are polluted because our ancestors took work that everyone needed and no one wanted and put it on them, and they have spent centuries making life on Amenta possible with that work. It is in every way possible to hold ‘reds are polluted’ and ‘reds are horrifically mistreated; this is horribly wrong’ in your head at the same time, those being both in fact true.

Anyway, here’s the point:
A lot of systems we’ve got going on are terrible and then some. That’s true. There’s places and cultures with context I don’t have, and that should be left to the people in them, but this is true in places where I totally have it plenty enough.
That should be talked about, that should be called out, that’s not going away now or anytime soon.
But at the moment, this is the systems that we have.
So if there’s a system, and it protects born-cleans, and it does not protect ex-reds, that’s a problem. And if there’s a system and it’s applied the same or extra to protect ex-reds, that is good and to be praised. Because ex-reds ought to be getting that protection, and ought to be getting the mindset that comes out of (and often fucking well aren’t and we all know it), and the systems we have is what exists for it to be given with.
Is it good that this is the systems we have? Fuck no. But having them is the part to be criticized and called out. And protection of ex-reds is the part to be recognized and praised.
Ask what neighborhood they're from pre-cleaning, and ask someone else from that neighborhood who did the internal policing. Ask the kids how they talk to their grandparents, maybe, that's a reasonable bet.
