for my alucard , in his youth , he did not think being a dhampyr was right . alucard was a sweet boy , joyful and loving , he was just like his mother in almost every way . every way save for his vampiric side , he knew that he was not a full vampire and thus , he did struggle as a child , normally it was hard for him to accept what he was , a child of both worlds . but this is not to say that he was ashamed of his nature , far from it . it simply took him a while to stop being so insecure over it , and his mother helped him with that . 

lisa was a very kind woman and she accepted what dracula was , what his father was and acknowledged the difference between their species , and she still loved him . alucard eventually learned that and found himself stepping up to that fact as well .

as he grew up , alucard grew into a refined young man . skilled in all that dracula had to teach him , swordsmanship , hand to hand combat , dark magic , summoning , shape shifting , honing his senses , and maintaining control of his vampiric nature . 

and while he did learn all these things , it didn’t go without saying that he also had an extensive education on the sciences , history , geography , literature , art , music , and dance . he greatly enjoyed learning and putting his skills to the test in any way he could , and whenever his mother visited the castle , alucard would spend most of his time with her before she would leave again to tend to her medical work .

to also note , alucard knows how to play the harpsichord , violin , piano , and the harp . he always played for his mother if she was stressed and needed a moment to relax , he always did this without a care in the world and if anything , they were one of his fondest memories with her .

but still , she remained at his side no matter what was exchanged between these two , even when maria was disrespected by alucard , she knew that in the end , he didn’t mean what he said . she knew that there was another reason than hostility .

though , over time , he came to terms with how he felt about her . he knew he wanted her by his side , and this wasn’t something that hit him right off the bat , no . this took a great deal of time , he was mourning the loss of his parents and it was without a doubt that he was somewhat bitter towards that fact . but maria stayed , she stayed even when she knew nothing about him and how he felt , she stayed and asked him if he was alright , asked him if he needed anything and was always the one he woke up to first .
