Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā This wasnāt like him.
Recently, heād been more careful about things like this--a lighthearted joke was okay here and there, but openly mocking a stranger was something he told himself he was doneĀ with. He wanted to try to justify himself--to say that, hey, they started it. They were the ones who brought up his past and set off an unwanted trigger. He thought he was okay, but he clearly was not.
It was in a dim alleyway in the late afternoon, and he was shoved back against a wall more harshly than he would handle. His back felt raw and the back of his head was bloodied from the impact it had made with the brick wall behind him. He was breathing heavily and wasnāt thinking clearly. His eyes were wide, and he could see a fist like a jet speeding toward his face.
He panicked. He didnāt think.
Streaks of blue drew themselves out from his fingertips, and he swiped his fingers across the space in front of him, creating strands of electric energy that moved outwards slowly. The attackers froze, watching in confusion as Evander gritted his teeth.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āFortissimo.ā
Like a speeding bullet, the streaks shot outwards and seemed to slice through the three who surrounded him, but in reality they phased through their bodies, electrifying them to the point of knocking them unconscious.
Shallow breaths werenāt doing enough to regenerate the energy heād exerted, and he slid down the wall slowly, panting. He shouldnāt have done that. He was so stupid to have done that, and he felt his body reaching its limits. He saw someone approaching out of the corner of his eye, but he couldnāt muster the strength to say anything.
