and so he uses one arm to sweep the clutter from his desk - pencils, stacks of paper, and an empty mug, which all fall to the carpeted floor, without regard for the possibility of breakage. he uses the space to spread out a cross section drawing of a building. it winds beneath the ground for several floors, and the madness of intertwined, oddly-shaped rooms can't quite be captured on the page.
even following a trail with your eyes will get you lost.
it looks like an early draft. messy, but still terribly precise. there are pages taped to the plans, with more drawings of rooms and sections that couldn't possibly fit.
