❝      artemis.      ❞          there’s a sharp breath in & out as she tries to control the onset of fear,     of memories,     of four thousand years of repressed rage.          ❝      what the hell are you doing here ?      ❞          

a trembling breath.  reem slowly looks up,   her green - gold eyes meeting those of her adoptive mother.  she wonders if she can see her fear and trepidation,   if it’s obvious that she’s dreaded this meeting for a long time.   part of her had secretly hoped they would never have to see each other again.   it would have been easier that way.   she raises her hands to address artemis,   but upon meeting her hard,  silver stare they falter and tremor.   reem hesitates,   wondering if she still remembers their old sign language or if the goddess uses asl now.  

❝   it has been a long time,   ❞      she says softly.   hands sign along in asl.     ❝   thousands of years.   i didn’t think i would see you again.    not after...  everything.   why now ?   why here ?   ❞      

          ARTEMIS     /          the subfunction dedicated to the creation, reintroduction, and preservation of animal life onto the planet. ARTEMIS is based on the greek goddess of the hunt of the same name. headed by the alpha charles ronson, ARTEMIS’ overall purpose is to revive the earth’s biosphere.

          results     /          the success of the ARTEMIS subfunction was hindered by the purging of the APOLLO program, as new humans being born out of cradle facilities were supposed to use APOLLO in order to further ARTEMIS’ capabilities. without APOLLO’s database, humans has no idea what ARTEMIS was, let alone how to use it for its intended purpose.

          despite this setback, ARTEMIS’ primary objective of reintroducing animal life to the planet was partially successful: micro-organisms and insects, rats, rabbits, hawks, foxes, wolves, wild boars, turkeys, goats, owls, squirrels, and badgers currently occupy the world.
